National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020
December 23, 2019
The Defense Technical Information Center (DTIC) has posted the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 (Report 116-333). This bill authorizes FY2020 appropriations and sets policies for Department of Defense (DoD) programs and activities, including military personnel strengths. It does not provide budget authority, which is given in subsequent appropriations legislation. The bill includes detailed breakdowns of Congressional authorizations for defense Research, Development, Test and Evaluation (RDT&E) and Procurement funds.
DTIC’s new budget application, Research Budget and Project Information (RBPI), allows registered users to search and analyze report data across fiscal years. The general public can access the report PDF on the DoD Congressional Budget Data website.
RBPI’s Explore feature enables meaningful analysis through searches of Congressional Marks by Program Element, budget years, agency, report types and budget activities. Through RBPI, users can quickly evaluate and forecast trends in DoD budget data, facilitating better execution and planning for RDT&E investments.
DTIC’s mission is to aggregate and fuse science and technology data to rapidly, accurately and reliably deliver the knowledge needed to develop the next generation of technologies to support our warfighters and help assure national security. A DoD Field Activity, DTIC is under the leadership of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering USD(R&E).
